Aztec Midnight is an action/adventure novella, by author M.C. Tuggle. In the story, the knife is a main character in itself, so depicting it on the cover seemed like the right subject choice. The blood is a slight foreshadowing to the mystery around the knife and a way to set the atmosphere for the reader as theyset forth on a thrilling journey. We referenced actual Aztec artifacts for the knife’s design and carvings and dulled all the colors to suggest an old world element.

The book cover design was packaged with promotional graphics. These were meant to further the storyline and compliment the cover.

Death Legacy is a romantic, spy thriller novel, by author Jacqueline Seewald. We referenced classic espionage imagery for the characters and added a modern twist with the looming agents framing the shot and clean lines at the title and background monument.  The body positioning of the characters deliberately reflects the story – a strong female lead, with her equally strong male admirer.

The book cover design was packaged with other promotional graphics. These were meant to further the storyline and compliment the cover.

The purpose of this campaign was two-part: advertise our favorite genres and demonstrate the creative team’s design versatility.  The Novel Fox is not only committed to publishing enjoyable and well-written books, but to well-packaged books.

While most designers have a natural style all their own, we believe the book cover art should still lead the reader towards the genre of the book and set an atmosphere for the story.

As the company went public and the website went live, we created graphics to accompany announcements and advertisements on our blog and social media platforms.

The design of the graphics were spin-offs of the website design to visually connect back to “The Novel Fox World” created on the home page.  We also tapped into our witty side with the imprint ads, using fox paw prints on each version.

The images above showcase ads for the: Website Launch, Call for Submissions, Discoveries Imprint, and Shorts Imprint.

Designing a website can be intimidating these days – it’s the e-face of the company. But we had a blast designing this website and wanted it to show. Less is more, without lacking in personality.

It’s easy-to-navigate and establishes the symbiotic relationship between the publisher-author-reader.

The images above showcase: the different platforms the website can adapt to, the background illustration that sets the atmosphere for “The Novel Fox World”, and the mascots for the author & reader.

We love fiction. We love art. We love design. I guess you could say we love foxes, too.

Above are a few images to show how the website came to be from sketchpad to pixels.

This brand is fresh and polished, yet playful.

The logo embodies the brand through its simplicity of line-work, colors, and geometry.  The cover sets the logo atop a pattern of lithograph foxes.  This is a nod to the actual animal - for which the brand and logo would not exist without an understanding of a fox’s anatomy and characteristics.

The book logo and title page design are more in line with traditional books allowing for versatility between printed and digital mediums, and legibility and connection to the book’s body text.
